The Health and Wellness Expo was originally designed and produced in Winnipeg in 1994. The goal of the shows was to create a venue where companies, groups and individuals who are in the business of promoting health and wellness products and services could have a targeted and specialized location to share information. Consumers would also have the opportunity to visit this venue as a safe haven for collecting information, products and services that offer choices for the enhancement or improvement of their well-being. The Wellness Expo was developed over the years to become the Health and Wellness Expos of Canada with shows planned for multiple cities in Western Canada, bringing the answers to health and wellness issues to as many people as possible.
As Xstream Productions, the creator of the Health and Wellness Expo Tour, increases the number of cities in the Tour, so too will our “specialized” wellness production team grow. The Health and Wellness Expo Tour goal is to build a team of wellness oriented sales and production members from across western Canada to make us the most well rounded and experienced health show team in Canada. Here is the current team in the Winnipeg office.
This year Xstream Productions was very proud to be awarded the prestigious honour of being named The Best FULL Service Event Management Company in Manitoba.
After 23 years in Manitoba, this is a great honor and it falls on the backs of our wonderful family of exhibitors and show partners as well.
Thank You Manitoba.
1996 was a banner year for the Wellness Expo. My long time friend and hero, Dr. Wayne Dyer was about to go on tour to release his first new book in many years. The book was scheduled to release in the USA in April of 96′. Wayne brought up 400 hundred copies to our Wellness Expo and history was made. The very first 400 copies of Manifest Your Destiny were sold here in Winnipeg and most were personally signed by Wayne. It took me years to get him here and it certainly was worth the wait.
Richard Simmons was by far one of the best guest ever. A true professional and amazing business person and humanitarian. We spent 10 hours out and about doing media and his promotional skills were shared like a true professional. We laughed, cried and became great friends.. We danced in the fountains at Portage Place, then amazed a record crowd of over 1500 people at the wellness expo.
Come back any time Richard.
Six Years Later
Now,as we face a new millennium we sense a change in the mindset of the general public. The Wellness movement has advanced to a larger audience. Once thought to be primarily for the baby boomer group, the Wellness Expo audience now spans ages from 18 to 80 and everything in between. People are starting to be concerned about their own well being. Every day, more and more people are searching for ways to enhance and improve their quality of life, making an effort to take charge of their own well being. The Wellness Expo starts to grow!
Birth of the Great Canadian Wellness Tour
In 2011 the Wellness Expo launched a cross Canada Touring version to promote Wellness to communities that would normally not receive these kind of events. The Wellness Expo is western Canada’s oldest and longest running owner operated Wellness Show and soon to be the largest in Canada.
The Wellness Expo is truly the Premiere Wellness Events in Canada.
Twenty Years Later …
Rick Thiessen looked back twenty years and remembered enthusiastically how he helped the first Wellness Expo in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The original Wellness Expo developed over the next twenty years, has now grown to become Health and Wellness Expos of Canada and is touring across all of Western Canada.
At the time, Rick commented on the future of the Wellness Expos saying “Our goal is to proactively service and respond to the needs and changes in the health and wellness sector. We look forward to a bright future and unveiling what the next 20 years will bring.”
Thank you to our Family, Friends, Loyal clients and attendees who have supported this project through out the years.
As we move forward to the 2017 / 2018 Wellness Expo season, we are truly moving to a new era. Now with 6 cities on the go, we are the largest and oldest touring Wellness company in Canada. We have a new corporate name, Health and Wellness Expos of Canada, and are producing our Wellness Expos in six Western Canadian Cities this season. We look forward to visiting Thunder Bay, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina, Calgary and Edmonton for the 2017 / 2018 tour season.
We also are excited to add a couple of new faces to the team. Returning after 22 years away is Ron Mark who is now back in the game as our Director of Sponsorship & Business Development. Also coming on board is the amazing Donna Boiteau as our Manager of Client Relations. Together these two amazing people bring over 60 years of customer service to our little family.
Here’s hoping the Wellness Expo will be in a city near you. Thanks for your continued support.

Health Shows Completed
Rick began his consumer show career in 1985. In his first years he specialized in creating new consumer events in Winnipeg. His 13 years in retail sale, sales management and retail promotions enhanced his thirst for productions before starting the next level of his career. By the late 80’s he had created a dozen new events and was moving on to personal development programs with international greats such as Wayne Dyer, Mark Victor Hansen, Tony Robbins, Richard Simmons and many others. He was invited to join the original creation team for the Wellness Expo in 1994. After a few years of managing the show, he took over the reins and redesigned the show in 2000 to reflect the event we see today.
Rick’s travels and challenges over the past 3 decades have provided him with over 25 years of experience in special event management and personal development productions. The work and experience has allowed him the privilege of working with hundreds of terrific companies and some of the world’s greatest celebrities and performers. His success credits include conferences, trade shows, consumer shows and various sports and musical events, plus dozens of corporate functions.
Now, as the owner and production manager for the Health & Wellness Expos of Canada, Canada’s oldest and longest running owner operated wellness show, Rick is watching his baby grow into the touring company he envisioned 20 years ago. The Wellness Expo has begun it’s launch across Western Canada to promote Wellness to communities that would normally not have hosted this kind of event.
In 2011 Dolores came into our life at the HQ for family and company. After a short 3 years, she is now Vice President and CFO, Administrative Director for Xstream Productions, and my wife. Dolores comes to us with a vast experience of office and marketing experience. For most of her adult life she was an executive administrator for the school system in Winnipeg and the Federal Government, but not without a bit of an entrepreneurial background as well. She owned her own graphic arts company with a weekly coffee news publication in South Eastern Manitoba. Her background in computer skills (as an operator and teacher), with a flare for design and desktop publishing combined with her passion for detail has been an invaluable addition to this company (and Rick).
Since joining Xstream Productions, Dolores has taken over almost all the administrative decisions for the company and still manages to handle some great design work. In addition, she is now creating and managing new shows as part of the Great Canadian Wellness Tour. Dolores is awesome with the clients and her interpersonal skills are perfect for this type of industry where we are constantly communicating with hundreds of companies on a monthly basis and from every walk of life. No matter who they are, everyone loves to talk to “Dee”.
We are pleased to welcome Dolores to the Wellness Expo family.
Energetic and engaging, Ron Mark brings over 35 years of experience and an extensive organizational and managerial background to all aspects of special events management, consumer and trade show production, and community activities.
The introduction of the highly successful Manitoba Christmas Craft Sale in 1980 began his career in event management. Since then Ron has owned, managed and/or produced events, conferences and trade shows, from enormous and intricate, to the smaller and more innovative. More recently Ron was the trade show manager of “Home Expressions – Manitoba’s Home and Garden Show” (1996 – 2005), Kitchen Bath and Renovation Show, producer of the Autumn Home Show (2008 – 2010) and the parade manager and executive director of the Winnipeg Parade Committee, producers of the highly successful Winnipeg Santa Claus Parade (2009 – 2017).
The Wellness Expo is very excited to welcome Ron back to the team at Canada’s Premiere health and wellness expos, the Health and Wellness Expos of Canada, as the Director of Sponsorship & Business Development.
